Well SAPCAR Fans, the highly anticipated Season Five is now underway in Ridgeway, Virginia.

As you can see by the race winners, WE Racing has maintained its dominance despite the elimination of the Young Adult division. WE Racing added its youngest member of the Whitlow Family, Jordan Whitlow, to its race team for Season Five.

Many changes came about for Season Five. The most notable change was the elimination of one of the most popular class divisions,  young adult. From day one, WE Racing dominated this class only losing one of a total of 28 races. Brandon O'Dell from the Odie Racing garage claimed its first victory in the next to last race of season four that took the complete dominance away from WE Racing. Since the competition had dwindled from as many as 8 young adult racers in past seasons, top racers Brandon and Brent withdrew from the division and entered the adult stock division. Brent commented, "Well, until we can spark enough interest in our division, I'd much rather race against the adults. Odie and I both have cars that can compete with the adults. All I have to say is WATCH OUT DONNIE DAVIS--here I come!"

The second change was the addition of mail-in racers. As expected, with the extremely short notice to other racers across the country (less than two weeks), we did not have any mail-in entries for this race. We definitely expect to receive a few for the September race!

SAPCAR racers dominate on a Professional level!!

Three teams went to the WIRL Peachtree Derby in Atlanta during the
July 4th holidays. They walked away with a 1st, 3rd, 5th and 9th in
the Rookie stock class and a 2nd in the Show event!

WE Racing took home 1st and 3rd in the rookie class. MIR Racing took
home a 5th place and Odie Racing came in a very respectible 9th
(beating out 3+ regulars). All of the times from 1st thru 10 were
between 3.08 and 3.3, so the field was close.

We Racing was the only entry in the class to run an average time of
less than 3.1 seconds.

MIR Racing's Mater finished a very close 2nd to professional
woodworker and derby car builder T. Dean White (look for his
published designs on the internet!)

MIR and Odie Racing members also walked away with door prizes.

Between the early race crash and early race domination by Odie Racing, the modified division kept fans on the edge of their seats. The WE Racing Team continued its domination. Brent Whitlow comments on WE Racing domination.....

Ok SAPCAR fans are you ready for 2007? The end of 2006 brought the SAPCAR teams to the midway point of Season Four. WE Racing had dominated both adult and young adult for the entire season with a couple of wins in Modified. In December, MIR Racing made a threat to the Modified division with the "hybrid" car that came in a close second place finish. This month Odie Racing dominated early on in the modified division. Everything appeared to be going Odie's way as he defeated Davis Racing and MIR Racing early on. WE Racing even crashed their #8 Oreo/Nabisco car. Although the #8 wrecked, the wreck seemed to improve the car!! We racing came back from the Losers Bracket to defeat Odie Racing in the last few races. This was one HUGE step for Odie Racing as he has declared this season as his year for his first win.

In other news around the track, Brent Whitlow comments on the WE Racing domination. Here is what he had to say.

"In Season One, Donnie Davis and his team dominated both adult and Youth classes. After every race Donnie and I would have a grudge match to see whose car was better. Usually i would go home in "last" place. To this day I don't think I have beaten him more than 2 times. The competition was strong because Donnie and I were in different divisions, thus we could only race after the races were over. Month after Month I would go home and strategize about where to put my weight and what do to for the next "Grudge" match. I miss this competition. Now things have changed hands as WE Racing seems to be dominating. Through my eyes it seemed as though no one is trying to beat us! With things getting closer and closer I am glad to see folks like Odie stepping up their game and being competitive. Not once have I heard odie complain about us winning. Instead he goes home and works on his cars so he can come back and get us the next race. CONGRATULATIONS odie for your drastic improvements this year. I look forward to your first win in this season!"

James Whitlow continues his win streak. He has now won 16 straight races in the Adult Division. Congratulations to James!

MIR and Odie Racing are becoming more competitive! The last two Modified races have seen new faces atop the leader boards as MIR and Odie Racing have been making their appearances.
